When Lord Rama (avatar of Madhava/Vishnu) was bound by an illusion with a tight rope of snakes, and everyone around in their deep love attempted desperately to save Him, you used your sharp intellect. You used the appropriate power of incantation and chanted words that reversed fate and smashed the power of the missile of snakes.
Author’s Note
The song is based on the scene from Yuddha khanda of Ramayana where Rama and Lakshmana have been tied by Indrajit’s Nagasthras. When everyone was looking for avenues to save the brothers who fainted due to the snake poison, Hanuman used his sharp acumen and chanted the Garuda stotram facing east that brought Vishnu’s eagle Garuda to the war site. The moment the snakes witnessed the arrival of their deadly foe, they disappeared from the bodies of Rama and Lakshmana and allowed them complete recovery. This episode is not described and Hanuman's effort is not mentioned in Valmiki Ramayana. For more details see, Krittivasi Ramayana authored by the Kritibassi ojha, a Bengali poet (1381 - 1461 AD) who added more details to certain episodes in Valmiki Ramayana. Hanuman's Intellect annuls Nagasthra
It is clear that lesser known facts about Hanuman in this episode and other Ramayana episodes are from numerous local versions of Ramayana.
Valmiki Ramayanam describes the war scene in detail. Indrajit had a boon of conducting the warfare in an invisible mode. He pounded Rama and Lakshmana with nagasthras and bound them with snakes tightly coiling around their bodies. In moments, both the brothers lost consciousness. After hearing this news, Ravana sent Thrijadai and other demons and asked them to escort Seetha to the battleground and witness the dead bodies of the brothers. Seetha grieved to see them in that condition and lost heart. Suddenly, Garuda arrived like a whirlwind with a turbulence in the ocean and the snakes quickly left the bodies of the unconscious brothers. For details see:

Mother Janaki explained to you that the vermilion on her forehead will provide longevity to the life of Srirama, who is worshipped forever without food or sleep by loved ones. Once you heard the meaning behind adorning the vermilion on one's forehead, you did not wait even a moment and did not even bother to measure the amount of vermilion to adorn yourself.

The episode of Hanuman smearing sindoor (vermilion) all over his body is found in the "Ananda Ramayana," a lesser-known Sanskrit text. the authorship of this Ramayana is also uncertain. Some believe that Sage Valmiki composed it but scholars believe that it is a much later version with new elements not found in Valmiki Ramaya incorporated into it perhaps between 12th to 15th century AD. This story is part of the "Hanumanupakhyana" within the Ananda Ramayana, which is considered a supplementary text to the Valmiki Ramayana.

Author’s Note
First two lines of the Charanam of this song have references to Hanuman lifting the Dronagiri mountain containing the medicinal herb, Sanjivini, and bringing it to Rama and Lakshmana. During the war with Ravana, Lakshmana was seriously injured and needed this specific herb to be saved. For details of this episode in the Ramayana, see the following link:
The Pallavi of this song calls out Hanuman as சிறிய திருவடி. This is a traditional way of addressing Hanuman in the Vaishnava sampradhayam. Garuda or the eagle is the constant vehicle for Lord Vishnu, and he is with him all the time. Therefore, the Vaishnavites refer to him as periya thiruvadi (பெரிய திருவடி) with thiru referring to the superior Lord Vishnu. The word “adi” means foot. Hanuman will be present wherever Rama’s name or glory is sung, and help the singing devotees to reach Him. Hence the name with the adjective siriya.
